Overview

The Accounting Director will oversee the financial integrity and operational efficiency across YESS Finance Partners. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting, consistency, compliance, and strategic support for the participating organizations.

Responsibilities

  1. Financial Oversight & Reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each participating YESS Finance partner Y.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of financial performance across all entities.
  • Oversee the completion of general ledger management, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
  1. Compliance & Audit Readiness
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and nonprofit-specific accounting standards.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to grant and donor restrictions.
  1. Shared Services Coordination
  • Standardize accounting processes across organizations to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Manage service-level agreements (SLAs) with YESS Finance Partners.
  1. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and mentor teams of accounting and finance staff.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Deploy YESS Finance teams to meet the needs of YMCA Partners.
  1. Systems & Process Improvement
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of financial systems and tools.
  • Drive automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and errors.
  1. Strategic Support
  • Provide financial insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and program leaders to ensure financial data informs decision-making.

     7. Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (YMCA financial leadership experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, IRS regulations, and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, SGA Accounting, Daxko Accounting).
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills are required
  • Excellent strategic and conceptual thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills are required
  • Excellent collaboration, negotiation, facilitation and presentation skills are required
  • Experience interacting with and driving results for C-suite leaders is required
  • Ability to travel as needed is required

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,900.00 - USD $147,800.00 /Yr.
